the life of Dieter

Dieter starts his morning doing "work" just like mom!  He loves to type on the laptop and luckily we have an old one hanging around for him to work on.
In the afternoon he helps out with laundry.  He has graduated from the small laundry basket to the larger hamper.  The hamper has wheels on it and he thinks it is quite fun to take rides in it.

In between wash loads he finds his way to the bathroom to play around with the door stop and the flush handle, and anything else that looks intriguing!

Back to helping with laundry.  He's really good at spreading the clothes pins around.

4th of July

Our 4th of July was just too hot to go anywhere or do anything.  Dieter spent most of the day in just his diaper.  Finally in the evening it was a little cooler to go outside.  Our neighbors set up a badminton net on our front lawns, we served up some ice cream cones, and some other neighbors contributed to the firework display.
 The neighbor kids love Dieter!
Badminton and ice cream...it looks like a real serious match!

Dieter was not so sure about the fireworks.  He liked the bright lights until they started making too much noise.  Poor little guy.  He clung on to me...one hand wrapped around mine and the other grabbing frantically to my hair.

10 months

Dieter is now a crawling machine and quick too!  He can now clap his hands and wave good-bye.  He loves listening to music (especially the kind with a real good drum beat and guitar) and bob his head to the rhythm.  He is getting closer and closer to walking without holding onto something.  His latest trick is to walk with holding on to only one of our hands.  He is getting more vocal and is trying out new funny sounds almost daily.  He has 4 teeth but is very shy about showing them off.  He loves to cuddle up to a blanket my grandma made for me.  It is nice and soft and very worn!  When he cuddles up with it he looks at us as if to say 'look how cute I am cuddling up to the blanket'.  It happens every time!  We have been to the swimming pool a few times and he loves the water.    He is fascinated by ceiling fans, birds, airplanes, other children, and flags waving in the wind (he is such a patriotic boy!)  Wes and I comment daily on how lucky we are to have this beautiful little boy!
