babies

These are all the babies in our ward that were born in 2012.  I think five were missing from the photo.  So yeah, that would be 15 babies born in 2012 for the Brighton Ward!  The photo shoot didn't go so well.  Baby Tullia (in the middle of the middle row) started crying.  It made Nolan (to her left) start wailing.  And Dieter next to him was just wondering how he could get Nolan's hand into his own mouth!  Then the older girls (the ones that can sit up) were just looking at the others like they were so immature.
The moms with their babies.  From left to right (youngest babies to the oldest babies)  Loyalty Teancum and Valkyrie Rose, Elizabeth Anne, Tullia Sue, Sa'lay Kayalani, Dieter Vincent, Nolan Bennett,  Elizabeth Kate, Brooklyn Holly, Karina Brooklyn

Real Food!!!

Dieter is happy to be trying "real" food.  Well, maybe not so happy at first.  The first setting was carrots (I think he was more intrigued with the spoon than the food!).  He second setting (picture below) was applesauce and then some sweet potatoes.  He loved it.  I think we have an eater on our hands!

It's Soup Weather

The Saturday before Christmas Wes and I decided to make Crab Chowder.  It turned out delicious.  I found a recipe at Edible Portland.com and we were off and running.  The recipe basically calls for one to make their own crab stock.  Our house smelled a little seafoody (is that a word?) for a few days.  Next time, I'm going to step it up a notch and make bread bowls to go with it.

As part of a New Year's resolution to eat better, we signed up for the CSA program.  We get fresh fruits and vegetables delivered to our door once a week.  This was our first week and I made a Broccoli, Leek and Potatoe soup out of  the veggies from the box.
It made enough for an a small army (well at least a big family).  I love when the weather is cold and I can make soup for dinner!

Four Months

This kid is just awesome!! At four months old (time is flying) he is getting better control of his body.  He can roll from his back to his tummy, but only turning on his left side.  Once he is on his tummy is actively trying to figure out how to crawl.  Just today, he almost had his legs in position...it's only a matter of time.  He likes all things shiny.  He might be a tv addict (and we rarely watch tv).  Once a screen is on (tv, computer, etc), his eyes cannot be diverted!  He has the sweetest voice and he gives us slobbery kisses...at least we like to think they are kisses!
